Our customers are looking for ways to expand their living space, and creating a beautiful patio or three-season room is one of the best ways to accomplish this goal. The latest trend in patio design is porcelain pavers, which come in many shades and styles to suit the homeowner’s taste. We have used this product in our own homes and have helped many of our customers improve the value and function of their homes for a modest cost.
Benefits of Porcelain Patio Pavers
Most paver stones that have been used for outdoor patios and three-season rooms for generations have been made out of molded or stamped concrete. Concrete is porous and absorbs water. This is a big problem, especially in cold climates with freeze/thaw cycles like Mid-Michigan. Over time, the water in the concrete pavers will freeze, expand, and cause the pavers to crack. Ultraviolet light is another common problem with concrete pavers, and they will discolor and fade over time if exposed to sunlight.
Porcelain is the next generation of pavers, and they avoid all these problems, since porcelain is non-porous and UV-resistant. They are easy to install and can be set on grass, sand set, installed with mortar over a concrete bed, or set on pedestals for rooftop or deck applications.
The Premium Porcelain Pavers offered by Premier Tile come in about 20 shades and colors, most in a 24″x24″ size and are 2mm (0.79″) thick.
